Therapy vs. Coaching: Which is Right for Me?
Therapy
In a nutshell, therapy is appropriate for individuals struggling with mental health related concerns. You are having a difficult time coping with your every day life. You may constantly feel sad, angry, be grieving a loss, experienced a trauma, or have trouble regulating your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. You do not feel “okay”.
If you resonate with factors such as these, therapy is the appropriate avenue for you.
Coaching
Coaching is most suitable for individuals who are in a stable place- mentally and emotionally.
You know what your goals are, you have already determined that you will reach these goals, you possess motivation, and will not take no for an answer. You are generally confident in yourself, and believe in your worth. All you need is for someone to help you refine your goals, clarify the steps that you need to take to get you there, and hold you accountable. You need someone to walk alongside you, to support you, to remind you to keep going, and cheer you on.
If this rings true to you, coaching is the correct choice for you.
