• Brainspotting Therapy (Brainspotting Processing, or BSP) stemmed from Eye Movement Desensitization Processing (EMDR).

  • Both practices use our eyes to access the deep region of our brains within the frontal cortex that hold our “oldest emotions” like fear, anger, etc. We store all of our memories and feelings in this part of the brain. This part of the brain is connected to the subconscious.

  • Did you know that our eyes are a PART of our brain?

  • We take in, interpret, and assign meaning to experiences with our eyes. So, it makes sense that we would work with the eyes to help us process, and heal from our trauma or blockages.

  • During Brainspotting, you and I will decide on a particular view you will focus on throughout our session. We will choose this spot via somatic cues we observe.

  • Brainspotting is a very simple, but amazingly effective pathway for processing trauma and moving past blockages. The terrific thing is, you do not have to talk about anything you do not want to.

  • It’s pretty likely you will go through various waves of intense emotion during and after the process. The intensities vary from person to person. However, the goal of Brainspotting is to create a sense of peace and “okayness” not only by the end of our session, but moving forward.

  • Let’s remember that all persons are different. Depending on the type of traumas or blockages you intend to work through, the number of sessions needed will depend on what you need. I have seen individuals gain complete peace and clarity after just one session; while for others, it takes multiple sessions.

  • Brainspotting truly is an amazing tool to expediate healing from trauma and eliminate blockages. I have seen it first hand, time and time again. The curious thing is, I am in awe of the results every single time.
